After all the rain we got last weekend, sounds like the lake levels are still much below what they need to be at.

Well it's some very good news that area lakes have gained 3 - 5 ft in a short time. Especially Lavon as low as it had gotten. It looks like there will be more rain this weekend so let's hope it raises lake levels some more.

Here's the link to the US Army Corps of Engineers' website that monitors the lake levels. According to the numbers posted there today, Lake Lavon is only 2 inches below the "conservation pool" number (the number where conservation efforts go into effect.) Yea!!
The website also monitors the levels of many lakes from their Fort Worth District Office (41 in all) and is updated several times daily. |

That's a really great link, it looks like Lavon is down now less than an inch so hopefully it will get out of the conservation stage. It's also neat seeing how much is being released...

Has anyone noticed that at about 9:00 am yesterday the Army Corps of Engineering reduced the level of Lake Lavon by 4 feet. It changed from 491.71 to 487.76. Sit it reads currently 487.96 instead fo 491.96. So instead of being .04 feet below normal it is now 4.04 feet below normal. It was reported on News 4 last night being 4 feet below normal on their report on McKinnney and Frisco still being at Stage 3 restrictions. I emailed the Corps about it and they changed it back yesterday to 491 for about an hour. Anyone but me thinks this stinks to politics?

I just received an email from the Army Corps of Engineering and wanted to post this to be fair to them:
Lavon Lake has a lake level stage gage (DCP) that has malfunctioned. Yesterdays (Sat.) elevation was 491.74. Today's (Sun.) elevation is 492.00. The USGS is on their way to fix the gage. So hopefully we will have it fixed for tomorrows 0800 elevation. Again, sorry for any inconviences and the lake is rising. |

Wow! Who would have thought as bad as it was last summer that we'd be back up to normal this quickly!!
I think all the watering restrictions of the past several years have been an important lesson - in spite of all the rain this year, I still cringe when I see sprinklers making runoff. That's just not a responsible use of water, regardless of its shortage/abundance. |

With all the rain that we have been having, Lake Lavon is now above normal levels. This is greaet compared to last year when the lake was severely low. Also, the water restrictions have finally been lifted for most of Collin County.
